We’re home to beautiful Scottish Highland Cows (affectionately called “coos”), chickens that provide fresh eggs, and our two working dogs, Sig and Rem. Our Highland cows are gentle giants known for their distinctive long hair and calm temperament – perfect for guest interactions!

Absolutely! One of our most popular activities is feeding our friendly Highland cows. We provide approved treats, or you can bring apples, carrots, bananas, melons, or bread. Murphy, our gentle Highland cow, loves meeting guests – you’ll be amazed by their surprisingly soft tongues!

Our sustainable homestead spans 10 beautiful acres in the peaceful woods of Kalama, WA. We’ve been transforming this land from forest into pasture since 2020, creating a working farm that’s both functional and welcoming to guests.

Yes! We love sharing our sustainable farming journey with guests. You can explore our gardens, greenhouse, and pastures, learn about our Highland cows, collect fresh eggs from our chickens, and see how we’re building a sustainable homestead from the ground up.

Scottish Highland cows are known for their gentle nature, distinctive long hair, and hardiness. They’re perfect for small farms like ours because they’re excellent foragers, very social, and incredibly photogenic! Their calm temperament makes them wonderful for guest interactions.

We offer a unique custom-built shipping container home that’s been featured on “Living Big in a Tiny House”! Our one-of-a-kind accommodation sleeps up to 4 guests and includes a full kitchen, private bedroom, and all modern amenities while being nestled right in the heart of our working farm.

Your stay includes a full kitchen, private deck, Wi-Fi, heating/AC, and all linens. You can watch the Highland cows graze from the bedroom window, enjoy stunning sunsets from your private deck, and access fresh eggs from our chickens during your stay.

Yes! We have a suspension bridge that connects the tiny home area to our main house area – it’s definitely a conversation starter and a fun photo opportunity! The container home itself is also a work of art and engineering.

Enjoy our outdoor fire pit for stargazing, explore our gardens and greenhouse, feed the animals, walk our property trails, or simply relax on your private deck. We also have outdoor games and plenty of space to unwind and disconnect from city life.

Absolutely! Kids love feeding the Highland cows and chickens, exploring the farm, and the unique experience of staying in a shipping container home. Our working dogs, Sig and Rem, are friendly and great with children too.

Kalama offers the McMenamins Kalama Harbor Lodge with riverfront dining, Washington’s tallest totem pole at Marine Park, historic downtown antique shopping, and the Columbia River for fishing and boating. We’re also close to Mount St. Helens and the Columbia River Gorge.

We’re perfectly positioned 30 minutes from Portland and 2.5 hours from Seattle, making us an ideal getaway destination or stopping point for travelers. You get the peace of rural farm life with easy access to urban amenities.

The area offers Columbia River fishing, hiking trails, kayaking on Lewis River, and scenic walks along Kalama’s riverfront trail. Mount St. Helens National Monument is nearby for hiking and sightseeing, plus there’s excellent access to both mountain and ocean day trips.

Yes! Kalama’s historic downtown features five antique shops, local restaurants, McMenamins dining, and the new Mountain Timber Market with local goods and food. There’s also Kalama Koffee for your morning coffee fix!

Kalama is a charming riverside town where “highway, rail, and water meet”. It features beautiful Columbia River views, rich railroad history, and was even a filming location for the first Twilight movie at Kalama High School! The town hosts events like the annual Untouchables Car Show and Kalama Blues Festival.

Each season offers something special! Spring and summer are perfect for outdoor activities and farm exploration. Fall brings beautiful foliage, and winter offers cozy fireside evenings with possible views of snow-capped mountains. Year-round, you’ll enjoy the peaceful farm setting.
